    WAEC conducts two exams: SSCE (internal) for school candidates & SSCE external (formerly, GCE) for private candidates.

    The WAEC SSCE (internal) and WAEC GCE Accounting syllabuses are the same.

    Because all the topics where your Accounting questions will be asked in SSCE (internal) are also found in the WAEC GCE Accounting syllabus.

    How many questions are asked in the WAEC Accounting exam?

    Whether it is WAEC internal or GCE Accounting, the examination will consist of two compulsory papers.

    • PAPER 1: This will be of 1 hour duration, comprising 50 objective questions.
    • PAPER 2: This will be of 2½ hours duration with two sections: A and B.
      • Section A – Theory of Financial Accounting: you will be required to answer 2 out of 4 questions for 30% of the total marks for the paper.
      • Section B – Financial Accounting Practice: you will be required to answer 3 out of 5 questions for 45% of the total marks for the paper.
